it's supposed to snow up to six inches here between tonight and tomorrow. i don't remember how much came down four years ago when the state froze, but seems like way more this time. it'll probably help that the snow is concentrated on the coast, unlike last time when it was throughout the state. i'm mentally prepared for the power to go out, but based on that i don't think it should. but it goes out for seemingly any weather scenario nowadays so i'll know by tomorrow
i plan on riding my bike around later in the night to try and snap some cool photos. i have my flash ready. think i'll only take my red gel cause i'm not sure if tinting the snow blue or green will look as cool. spent some time reading about rear curtain sync vs front curtain. not sure my camera can even do either. the flash has a slow sync setting maybe i should search that up, but at the very least i can freeze falling snow. on the fence about a tripod. could allow for composite images, or at the very least more calm looking shots. don't know how far im willing to go. probably just to downtown. i was in nyc last week so i've re-acclimated to the cold somewhat. also bike a good amount yesterday after the sun went down and felt mostly fine. keens had my toes freezing but i have boots for tonight
i'm sooo good at denying myself happiness
had to bike so much saturday night cause i need to get cash to buy k and first atm i went to said no cash services available so i biked to the next one and that one didnt have cash either and took me further out from where i had to be to pick up. had to just pay atm fees at a walgreens. hate paying for dumb stuff like that. and parking. i have a friend who will just eat any parking fee cause it's "better than getting towed" which like yea most things are better than that, but i will take the time to avoid paying. i'll spin the block idc i dont mind walking a bit god knows i need any steps i can get in this town. i eneded up biking just under 60miles in the four days since i got back from new york
gotta practice my bass more. gotta read more. gotta email old professors for a letter of rec tomorrow morning. all notes to self
new york was fun gonna try and reccount how that went
i had wanted to go by myself, stay by myself somewhere, relax, see my friends, spend time by myself, but it was cheaper to make a few compromises. i stayed with noah in the uws instead of getting an airbnb in brooklyn or queens. i flew out with amanda which gave me more options on what to do any given afternoon/evening. we landed saturday, made our way to manhattan, relaxed for a bit before we went on different paths. they went to brooklyn to meet one of her oomfs, i met up with tori at penn station then went to like park slope to meet up with diamond. she manages a laser hair removal place now. funny. she does have that aura of authority so it fits her. we caught up a bit there then went to a bar where they got a bee's knees each and i got a narangasett and a shot. all got some fried pickles. they were good, couldve used more of a brine-y flavor. chatted more before tori had to leave for a dinner and me and dia went to another bar that was really packed. got more beers and shots there. a cider too. amanda and noa joined us there for a bit then dia left to her man's place. he lives not too far. she got a little explicit with what she was gonna go do but thats classic few drinks in her. we went to 169 bar in the les cause it was on the way home. i lost the weekly metro card i had just bought that afternoon there. i remember seeing it while looking for my id and then it was gone when i was at the turnstile to go home after. bar was loud and didn't seem as cheap as i thought it'd be. layout was the same as botanist in soho i feel
next day we went to see noah's friend julian. spent some time at his apartment. then went to soho cause i wanted to swing by gu, muji, baggu, prince st pizza. amanda needed new shoes cause she only brought docs. i split off to do my thing. got pants, a bag, a planner and pens. we got pizza afterwards. took the train back to julians, left our bags there, then went to brooklyn to get to our friends' show. they're all in shallowater and were playing at the broadway. i split off again, leaving a bit earlier from julians to make my way to ridgewood pre the broadway. was meeting up someone i know from the internet to pick up some k. i'd met him before irl but had been a while maybe two years since. awkwardly talked to him a bit then our other friend showed up. he brought me the super8 camera i lent him in like 2021. along with a couple other gifts. a roll of portra400 120 film and a book called 'houston rap tapes'. was not expecting to have to lug those two big things around that night but my bag was able to accomodate them. took an uber to the venue to avoid getting there too late and cause my friend david was supposed to meet me there. he ended up cancelling which is fine. diamond and peter showed up but dia had lost her bag in an uber recently so she didn't have an id. door guy would not let her in, which led to her saying some words within earshot of him, definitely not helping her case. did some k and tried to hold conversations with people. was easy enough but with peter i felt awkward cause even sober convos with him can feel off but especially when im in an out of the present. earlier that night a twitter oomf who i hadn't met irl but was also by chance in nyc that night hmu about the show. so i met up with her. we talked a bit getting to know each other. i dont think she said her name. i dont think i said my name either honestly. but i figured it out. she hung out with us for the show and then afterwards when we stood outside and then sang karaoke inside. i did blur - song 2 again. like the last time i was at the broadway with kingsley a little over a year ago. noah was complaining about how hungry he was but when his friend showed up he started talking to her and didnt bring up food for another thirty to forty-five minutes. tristan and them went to thier manager's apartment in billy burg and we met up with them there. us five shared an uber xl that had a trivia game on the back of the passenger headrest. we got joes pizza. went into the apartment. they had drinks and lines going. i only drank water, maybe had a modelo. otheres were indulging which seemed nice and cool at first but got old fast. the manager and his rooomate were kinda annoying, which most people on coke etc are but them especially so. their neighbor chewed them out for partying at 1:30 am on a sunday so we went to a bar that tried to deny us entry but they talked our way in. another beer there. was really wanting to go home by then. we were supposed ot get our stuff from the friend's apartment on our way home but clearly wasn't happening. we did get lucky with trains on the way back. never had to wait too long. on and off and on situation
my hand is cramping i'll have to do the other days another time. the show was good though. if tristan has no fans then i'm dead
